Scientific Information: Zircon is a crystal that forms when molten granite cools. Zircon is the oldest mineral to form on the Earth that holds faint traces of uranium and thorium and oxygen. This is a scientific excitement because if the oldest mineral on Earth provides hints of water from almost 5 billion years ago, then there is evidence of life before originally thought. Revealed by Man: Zircon has become known as a deceptive simulation for it’s convincing role as a false diamond. In the 1900s, Zircon was often used as a diamond counterfeit that allowed many people to flaunt a more expensive look, though it was smoke and mirrors. Legend and Lore: Zircon was said to bring about sound sleep, ward off evil spirits and expressions, and instill honor and wisdom. Blue Zircon was highly sought after in the VIctorian Era because it signified a royal status. However, Blue Topaz is much more common and accessible and used as an alternative December birthstone.

It was also easily found in eastern Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, and parts of Latin America. Legend and Lore: It was said that Topazes could magically attract gold and other forms of wealth. Topaz also warded off evil thoughts and spirits and encouraged a gentler, healthier mind with a good amount of self-esteem. Topaz also represents the planet Jupiter in Hindu astrology.
