Meteorite with Caliper
This is a great meteorite specimen to add to any collection. It comes with a beautiful brass caliber stand that allows one to view the meteorite from all sides. It has been cut into a cube-like formation, with one side left natural. On every side that has been cut, is a very defined Widmanstätten patterns, also known as Thomson structures, are figures of long nickel–iron crystals, found in the octahedrite iron meteorites and some pallasites. They consist of a fine interleaving of kamacite and taenite bands or ribbons called lamellae.
The natural side has great texture. Just think of the history of this piece, it’s journey through space. If this meteorite could talk, what stories it would tell!
